What do I need to do to get a website?

How long does it take to get a website created?  A temporary or "parked" page is created for you and published within 48 hours.  Your website design is scheduled immediately and during late winter and late summer it is not uncommon for our waiting list to be 2 months long.  During this waiting time you will be in regular communication with our Customer Service team as we prepare your layouts, work with you to pick out images for your site and provide you with ways to pass any marketing materials to us that you use.

Do you have a portfolio?  Our latest projects are always listed on our Web Design Page  We encourage you to visit them all and notice that each site has its own unique style.

What if I need more or fewer pages than you have listed in your packages?  Everything is negotiable.  Please fill out the form on the left of the page and we will make our recommendations upon reviewing your preferences.

Do you register my domain name?  We include the cost of domain name registration in all our packages to simplify the process as much as possible for our busy customers.  If you already own a domain name of if you feel more secure purchasing this separately we will gladly back $9.20 per domain out of your final invoice.

Will I be able to make my own edits?  Of course.  After your website is paid for in full you will be given all access information to your account.

Will I own my website?  After payment in full the site, images and domain become your property.  Any photography purchased for your project will be licensed to you.

Will I have control over my website?  After payment in full the website, content and domain are your property.  Some clients prefer we handle their domain registration account and renewals.  No matter which option you select you will be provided with documentation and access to all aspects of your website and domain should you ever need to prove ownership.

Is there an online editor or a WYSIWYG editor?  There is an online editor however we recommend using a text editor such as Notepad for site edits or taking advantage of our very affordable managed services plans which cover regular updates and allocated  webmaster time each month.

How will I get Clean Outlook to do edits for me in the future?  Our existing customers are guaranteed add on pages for $25 each.   We also have plans starting at $20 a month that include regular edits, updates and even SEO and link exchange programs.  Even if you opt out of the plans we are always available on a per job basis.  Contact us thru the website for a quote.

Do I have to host here?  We have hosting built in to our packages as more of a convenience for our clients than anything else.  You are not required to host with us however the hosting fees do help us in re-cooping costs in consideration of our low design rates.  Due to this, packages are not discounted should you decide to host elsewhere.

What is a customer service portal?
The csp you are referring to is a place where your customers can get information and interact with you.
We have a csp at www.cleanoutlook.com/csp

Should I list my customers on my website?
That is entirely up to you.

Smaller companies don't always do these because of the competition at that level of the game.
Larger corporate services oftentimes showcase a larger reference account or two.

In either case you can always have photos without additional information.

How do I avoid people from using my photos or employees or jobs?

Your best bet is to have them watermarked with either your company or domain name.

Can I use other people’s photos on my cleaning business website?

By rights you should have written permission from the owner of the photos.
I can't sell you other people's photos unless they are licensed to me. Sorry.

Does my domain name have to match my business name?

Certainly not.
In many cases the name will already be taken or may be too long to work well as a domain name.

Is it necessary to have a logo for my business?
Is it necessary? No!
Is it nice? Yeah
If you're on a tight budget but feel you're ready for a logo check to see what logo templates we have available

Can I put all my msds’s on my website?

That is an excellent idea.
Your msds's should be online. I would recommend linking to them instead of scanning each one in as a file.

Should I list my prices on my website?

I would be inclined to say no. I see that many cleaning services do but I personally don't like it. There are so many variables in your business that I think it's best to quote individual jobs. But of couse it's your site so its your choice.

What are Meta Tags?

Meta Tags are codes placed in the head of your webpage. They include information such as:

The type of document (format)
The title
A Description of the page
Relevant keywords
Instructions for search engines in terms of whether or not to search and how often to return.

How can I create a feed back form for my website?

You can use a service such as Hot scripts where you will build and store your form. You'll have to link to it. This is called remotely hosted.

Or you can use an online tutorial to create your form. Try webmonkey.com.

Or you can have us create a form for you.

What is the difference between domains and hosting?

Domains are your domain name such as: cleanoutlook.com

Your hosting is where you domain name is in essence stored and where your web site files, email and databases are stored.

How do I get my own domain name?

Visit a registrar such as godaddy.com, select your domain name and purchase it.

Or
Have your website designer do it for you.

Just remember to get some form of documentation stating that the domain name belongs to you.

How can I make an interactive site for my cleaning business?

Interactive sites give the user some control over what they do on your page. There is a general misconception that interactive means lots of flash or animated graphics. That's not the case.

For a cleaning service website nice ways to add interaction would be:

Feed back forms or guest books where someone can leave a testimonial for your service

Photo albums-if they can scroll thru the pictures thats even better

FAQ's- a place where they can find answers to specific questions

A place to request an estimate or sales call.

What is the difference between bandwidth, transfer and disk space?

Bandwidth and transfer are the same thing. In very layman terms it is what is actually used up every time some one views one of your web pages or one of your graphics. Think of it like RAM being used on your PC every time to click to request a program be opened up.

Disk space- remember servers are nothing more than a computer sitting somewhere that is connected to the Internet. Just as anything you save on your computer takes up disk space so does anything you save on your website server.

Should I build it myself?

Let's face it as business owners you are used to just doing things yourself. So your first instinct will be to save money by building your own website.

In reality unless you are quite experienced in building sites your creation may take up a lot of time that is if it ever gets completely finished.

Just remember if web design isn't your core then doing it yourself isn't the best decision financially for your business. We create websites affordable enough that even small contractors can afford them.

In reality the couple hundred dollars you pay for your site could easily be recooped in one afternoon of passing out business cards with your website address listed.

Just something to think about.

What do I need to do to get a website?

After you have done that determine whether or not you are able to afford a domain name or will be using a free service.

If you plan on having someone create your website for you be ready to provide them with information as this will increase the turn around time for your project.

Email us your questions and we'll include them in our database!
